Creating Meaningful Murals

While traditional outdoor sketches capture the fleeting essence of a specific moment or place, mural painting allows for a broader and more immersive exploration. Working with acrylic paints and markers on walls, panels, and large-scale frames, I create vibrant compositions that blend multiple urban elements into unified visual narratives. These murals are not just images — they are atmospheres. They are large illustrations of lived experience that invite the viewer to step into a reimagined landscape.

Each mural I create is based on real-world observation and deeply rooted in place. Unlike a quick plein-air sketch focused on a single corner or detail, my murals synthesize entire environments — combining scenes from different neighborhoods, moods, and layers of urban life. This approach allows me to convey the emotional texture and dynamic complexity of the locations I depict.

My murals have been commissioned and exhibited in public spaces across Taiwan and Hong Kong, including educational institutions and cultural centers. Notably, I’ve created a series for the Yunlin Storyhouse and completed full-wall installations in Taiwanese schools and parks. These works transform ordinary architectural surfaces into portals of connection — between viewer and place, story and structure.

At their core, my murals aim to capture the silent dialogue between environment and individual — a dialogue that speaks of rhythm, memory, and shared humanity. They become part of the environment itself, encouraging reflection, engagement, and curiosity.

Through this large-scale format, I expand the language of urban sketching into something more atmospheric and emotional — an art that surrounds rather than simply represents.
