Behind Bushido Hall
Taiwan, Daxi
$500.00
This Art peace captures the essence of Daxi Bushido Hall, nestled in Taiwan's Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum, where I was artist-in-residence in 2023. Originally a training ground for judo and kendo during Japanese rule, this hall later housed Chiang Kai-shek's gendarmeries, adding layers of martial and national history. My artwork reflects the hall's serene yet disciplined atmosphere, using fine ink lines to highlight its traditional wooden architecture against a backdrop of gentle nature. The piece is an homage to the hall's evolution from a dojo to a symbol of cultural preservation, embodying the quiet strength and historical depth of this storied place. Here, time's passage and the enduring spirit of discipline are captured, inviting contemplation of the intertwining of past and present.
